Afrischool is operated by BYERETA-TECH ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use Afrischool (the "app"), how we use it, and who we share it with.

1. Information we collect

Account details: the name, email address, phone number, and password you provide when you register.
Translation content: the text you type or the audio you record for translation, so it can be sent to our translation and speech providers and a result returned to you.
Payment information: when you subscribe, your payment is handled entirely by Pesapal. We do not receive or store your card, mobile money PIN, or other payment credentials - we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded or failed, along with the amount and a reference number.
Usage information: basic technical data such as sign-in timestamps and session activity, used to keep accounts secure (for example, limiting each account to one active session).

2. How we use this information

To create and manage your account, and let you sign in.
To provide translation and text-to-speech/speech-to-text features via our third-party language providers.
To process subscription payments via Pesapal and activate or renew your subscription once payment is confirmed.
To contact you about your account, classes, or a WhatsApp group related to the app, using the phone number or email you provided.
To detect abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and keep the app secure.

3. Who we share information with

Sunbird AI - receives the text or audio you submit for translation or transcription, in order to process it.
Pesapal - receives the billing details needed to process your subscription payment (Pesapal is a licensed payment service provider; we don't see or store your payment credentials).
Supabase - our database and authentication provider, which stores your account data on our behalf.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we don't share it with advertisers.

4. Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your profile data (name, email, phone) within a reasonable time, except where we're required to keep payment records for legal or accounting purposes.

5. Your choices

You can ask us to correct or delete your personal information at any time by emailing us (see Contact below).
You can stop using the app and request account deletion at any time.

6. Children's privacy

Afrischool is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from young children without appropriate parental involvement. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information inappropriately, contact us and we will remove it.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
